The Dirty South
Flying alone was one of the scariest things I have ever done in my eighteen short years of life. I told my mom I was totally fine with it. I lied. After like five detours, I finally made it to the airport, went through security, and patiently waited on the terminal. Finally we boarded the plane--in a snow storm. I think I have flying anxiety. It gets really bad right before take-off and when the plane is supposed to land. You know when they start talking about how to use your gas mask in case anything happens. Ummm how the heck is that supposed to make me feel better about flying thirty thousand feet in the air? Turns out the plane was pretty small and I just happened to sit next to a 350 pound football player from the U, whose body was decorated with endless amounts of tattoo art. I think I stereo-typed him though, because although he was practically sitting in my lap, he actually made the flight a lot less scary than it would have been. So thank you big african american dude who likes country music and wears alligator shoes. You saved my life. After I arrived in the Dallas Fort Worth airport, my dad and uncle were there, patiently waiting to drive me back to the good ol' town of Allen. Texas is pretty hoppin'. It's a lot warmer than it his here in Utah, but the water seriously tastes like a swamp. I almost gave into temptation (drinking carbonation) because it was soooo disgusting. The water also made my hair swampy so I wore it up like a boy everydayy… Although this little trip of ours was pretty random, I had a lot of fun. My mom took 3948930577 pictures, so I figured I would share with you what the good ol' state of Texas has to offer.
1. Sweet Hotels. My grandparents gave us this trip for Christmas, so they hooked us up with a siiiick hotel. It was so posh, and the pool was refreshing. Too bad I forgot a bathing suit, huh?
2. Football. We got to go to a Cowboys game. Although I think the constant flaunting of their far too under-dressed cheerleaders is inappropriate, the stadium is breathtakingly awesome, and the fans are insane. There is also a screen bigger than my house. I want one.
3. The tallest christmas tree in the USA. Need I say more?
4. JFK Museum. Who knew? We toured the building JFK was shot out of, and I stood right where he got shot. I though it sounded suuuuper creepy, and it kind of was… but the fact that it was so educational made up for it. Please notice that my brother wanted to pretend to be making out with Jackie Kennedy because she was "hot". What has this world come to?
5. Ice Skating. Although I can't even walk on campus without falling flat on my face at least once, you will be proud to know that I didn't fall once. Not once. I feel accomplished. Next goal: 2014 winter olympics. Watch out Michelle Kwan.
6. Fulfilling my life-long dream. So when I was a child, or even four years ago, I was obsessed with American Girl dolls. Maybe you have heard of them? Well my dream was to go to one of their magical stores. They only have them in Dallas, New York, Chicago, and somewhere in Cali. While we were eating I spotted it, and the second we walked in I felt like an eight year old again. They had a little cafe, and a salon to get your dolls hair done again. It was seriously the best day of my life.
(this is my favorite doll)
7. FOOD and Christmas lights. Although the two of these have nothing to do with each other. . . I don't care. I was definitely feed well here. I'm pretty sure I gained at least five pounds. And the christmas lights were out of this world. I'll put them in one category if I want, it's my blog.
8. Early Christmas. So, our phones deactivated while we were there, and my mom didn't want us flying home without one so santa came early! We were both so surprised. DROID. It's like the best thing that ever happened. Its a mini computer, I'm not even kidding. I'm in love with it, which is actually kind of weird. . . Anyway, she gave them to us after we had washed our faces and such so we wouldn't let her get pictures of our faces. He he. BUT the reallll reason she gave it to us early was because Spencer was supposed to call the next morning from the airport! Here's a quick story for you:
I warned my dad of this event possibly occurring, and for him to constantly monitor his phone. He agreed to watch it like a hawk. Well turns out while I was activating my phone and switching my contacts in the Verizon store, Elder Sardoni happened to make that precious phone call. I had this feeling that I needed to ask my dad if anyone had called yet. He got this look on his face, and instantly I knew he had ignored it. I was flipping pissed. I was pretty sure I wasn't ever going to talk to him again. Not my proudest moment. However, Spence called back (thankfully) like ten minutes later and I got to talk to him for a whole 55 seconds. Which is sad but good, cause it's probably the last time I'll get to talk to him before he comes home. Sad face. Anyway. Good times….
9. Family. Nothing like spending the holidays with the fam. Also, three sick triplets and a boy, plus a few family fights just adds some spice! The triplets also had a birthday and everyone else was just happy to be on vaca. Good times. . .
10. Home. After finals week i just wanted my own big comfy bed. But not getting it right away made my appreciate it that much more. Our trip was fun, but coming home was the best thing ever. Peace the freak out Texas!
I promise to start making my posts short again. I sometimes just get a little carried away. Smiley face.
2 rants and raves:
