sugar, spice, and everything nice
So today my grandma Halladay invited me over to bake some treats. This year they did the twelve days of Christmas for our family. Both of my grandparents wrote down their Christmas memories from when they were little kids. She said one of her most fond memories was when she had candy around her house during this time of year. Needless to say we had a lot of fun making a wide variety of chocolate creations. I didn't bring my camera from college, but I had my phone. These pictures aren't that great but everything just looked so delicious that I had to take some pictures.
Almond and Peanut Butter Cups
Almond Joy: 3/4 cup karo syrup
2 1/2 cups cocounut
Heat syrup just under boiling. Mix with coconut and set aside for an hour to let absorb thoroughly.
Peanut Butter Cups: 2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
powdered sugar to clay like consistency.
Once we ran out of filling, we got a little creative. We added pecans, cherries, etc. Yumm.
We also had some fun making chocolate covered pretzels dipped in carmel. Delish.
What a wonderful 23rd of December.
