Awkward & Awesome Thursday (College Edition)
Awkward- Moving into a new apartment and having the lights broken and toilets spraying water from every direction on the first day.
- (Adding this because it's hilarious and I forgot to put it.) My roommates were all in the living room watching Bachelor Pad then randomly one of our roommates was like, "Guys, don't take this the wrong way, but did you know that if one of your roommate's dies, the rest of your roommates get's all A's the rest of the semester." Hahahaha I will never sleep the same again.
- The fact that I have to have ice with every meal, and that my biggest pet peeve is when someone doesn't re-fill the ice tray. Messy kitchen? No big deal. Empty ice tray? World War II
- The infamous rape hill stairs on campus. I literally stay on campus all day just so I have to face them once. Then, once I get to the top I have to pretend to get on my phone or something and make my lack of breath not apparent to others. Not that easy.
(This picture doesn't do it justice. I've decided to film my journey today just for you. Wish me luck)
- I don't know if my healthy living regime is working too well, but eating healthy does some weird things to your body. . .
- When guys come over and tell you that your apartment is a mess. Yeah we know. Shut it.

- Sneezing seventeen times in class. Sexy.
- The fact that I literally cannot get onto my bed without a stool of some kind. Pathetic.
- When you say hi to someone on campus, but they don't wave back because they have no idea who you are. Oh cool.
- When your mom helps you move in, but you have to buy your groceries on Sunday, and as you bring them into the apartment, your bishop is right there watching everything.
- Being a half hour late to class because you can't find the Crabtree building. K, first of all, who in their right minds names a building Crabtree? I mean. . . Come on people.
- Our intolerably hot apartment. Especially the bedrooms. I go to bed every night wearing practically nothing, and wake up realizing that the curtains are semi open, and that everyone from the parking lot has a free show. Whoops.
- In a class of 500, somehow ending up sitting next to the single girl Rach and I made fun of in a class of ours last semester. You know those girls that like to ask questions just so they look smart, but really they look dumb because their questions are ones my eight year old sister could answer? But seriously though, what are the odds?
- Being millimeters away from breaking into sobs in the Bookstore—my book list was a page and a half long. There's no way in H I'm paying over $500 for Books. No way Jose.
- Falling asleep in class and drooling. . . Or just falling down the stairs. Either one is bound to make someone else's day regardless.
- Having a guy walk all the way from campus to your apartment approximately one foot behind you. Alas, it became too unbearably awkward, so finally I turned around and asked his name. He was a little too relieved saying, "Oh good! I felt like I was stalking you this whole time!" Yeah dude, it kinda felt like that, but some things are better left unsaid.
Awesome
- The greatest thing about having A TON of RM's in my ward, is that in Sunday School you don't have to say a word. They pretty much have the whole thing covered.
- My Intro to Communications class. I don't remember signing up for it, but it may be the answer to my mid-education Major crisis prayers. News Broadcasting? Maybe my childhood dream of becoming Carole Mikita will finally come true!

- Besides to horrendous stairs in every direction, BYU campus is the most beautiful in the world.
- Getting TWO free TV's. Think General Conference on those bad boys.
- Seeing people I haven't seen in forev on campus! Always exciting.
- Buy one get one free at SubZero. Always a crowd pleaser.
- The fruit smoothies I have for breakfast lunch and dinner. MMMMmmm good.
- Calling to talk Harry Potter with my little sister. (My brother has forgotten me once again, but I have faith he'll come around.)
- The satirical nature of our apartment. LOVE LOVE LOVE my roommates.
5 rants and raves:
Oh man! I was just enjoying this lovely post and pictures when I realized that we have the same bedspread AND poster on our wall. Crazy stuff I tell ya.
I feel like we're super similar. I hate those stairs. I literally sound like I'm having an asthma attack at the top. Also, I'm a Comms major and it's like the greatest thing. I'm in love with the intro class
I throughly enjoyed your awkward/awesome moments . Those stairs are particularly awesome come winter time... It was fun to run into you in the illustrious JFSB basement. Sorry I was kind of dazed, I may or may not have just woken up from a lovely political science nap.
you're thinking about broadcast journalism!? cool :) comms 101 is the best!!
Made me laugh about the stool to get off of your bed...that was pretty much every day of my life too before I got married.
